Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans offer eligible individuals the opportunity to receive coverage for Medicare-covered medical services and prescription drugs through a variety of private plans.

The AHIP Center for Insurance Education and Professional Development's course, Marketing Medicare Advantage and Part D Prescription Drug Plans: Understanding Medicare Basics, Plan Types, Marketing and Enrollment Requirements, is designed to provide those marketing to individual beneficiaries and groups, including agents, brokers, and health insurance plan marketing staff, with the information needed to:

  • help beneficiaries understand the basics of Medicare fee-for-service eligibility and benefits;
  • help Medicare beneficiaries learn about the different types of Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans, eligibility, and how to get covered services; and
  • marketing and enrollment requirements under the Medicare Advantage and Part D programs.

This online course is designed to allow participants to obtain core training that can meet the needs of multiple plans for both initial training and annual re-training certifications required to market individual and employer group Medicare Advantage and Part D plans to Medicare beneficiaries. It is intended to complement plan-specific training about individual company products.
